Labor Art

Our class is working on a project about Labor. What we had to do, was research and find good and bad sites on the topic. And then organize our resources. In the end we had to make a poem, about labor and what we thought was important. So here is my poem:

APPRECIATION

Love life and be happy.
Appreciate what you have.
Your family. Your friends. Your education.

Life is like a flower.
It grows, grows and grows.
But eventually it will die.
So don’t waste a second of it.
It is beautiful.Appreciate it.
People buy and buy.
Not realizing that the things they are wasting money on are pointless- not needed.
Young, hopeless, homeless kids, babies in our world don’t have toys.
Children the age of 10 and above work instead of play.

Appreciate the delicious food mom cooks for you at dinner time.
While poor workers sleep in tight, dirty spaces with only bread to feed off of.
About 8 to 9 of them rest, eat, change in the same room…
It’s hot, sticky, and uncomfortable.
Appreciate every second you get to sleep in a clean, warm bed.

Appreciate the nature that surrounds you.
The birds that sing to you.
The winds that follow you.
Most of all the minutes of your life that pass by fast.

Love life and be happy.
Appreciate what you have.
Your family. Your friends. Your education.

Blood, tears, and sweat.
They spend hours and hours in the dusty heat.
Trying to make money for their family.
Yet they are forced to deal with it.

The school you master in.
The house you live in.
The streets you walk on.
The malls you shop at.
The cars you drive.
The action figures you play with.
The iPods you listen to.
The clothes you wear.
The pencils you write with.
All made by the fatigue hands of these workers. These human beings.

As you drive by do you see these people?
Do you may attention to them?
Or are they invisible to you?
Without them, you wouldn’t have the things you have right now.
You don’t have to have everything you want in life to be happy.
As long as you have what you need, it should be enough.
Appreciate the fact that you have caring parents that push themselves day and night to support your family.
Appreciate the fact that you have a wonderful life.

Love life and be happy.
Appreciate what you have.
Your family. Your friends. Your education.
